Piers Morgan is an arrogant pr*ck.

For those of you who don't already know, I immigrated to this country with my wife and children more than 30 years ago. It was one of God's blessings that could never be repaid.

My homeland was the UK, England to most of you. I still have family and friends there even though I have not visited since the 80's. I am told that my English accent lingers on, and the truth is I am still very attached to my heritage. I enjoy news from there and I like to watch movies showing how England looks now. All in all, I am proud the Bruits are some of American's most loyal friends. I do believe they genuinely wish the best for us and identify with our achievements, but some things about them really get under my skin. Take the self righteous attitude of CNN talk show host, Piers Morgan, who is also from the UK. I am so embarrassed by his criticism of our Second Amendment rights and the arrogance displayed suggesting changes to our supreme law. I don't personally object to his opinion, more the arrogance with which it is given. Guns, especially handguns, have been banned from ownership by all but the most privileged British since the time of WW1. It is true that if you talk to the average Brit they support the ban. So the consensus is without question and they are quick to point that out. What is annoying is their firm belief that what is good for them must also be good for us.  My family members have no compunction joining Mr Morgan with their belief that America follow the UK's lead and ban guns. Saves lives they say.

This job requires I read lots on all subjects, including gun control. Not once have I read or heard an American tell the British to adopt the right to bear arms, or tell any other country for that matter. I imagine Mr. Morgan would be outraged at the suggestion, and rightly so. What is good for us may not be good for them, so why does he feel it OK to insult us with his beliefs. And why is he so sure we want to hear him tell us something we could only know if we were British and smart like him?

As I have said, sometimes it is embarrassing to have a British accent. On Piers Morgan's behalf, please accept my apologies for him being a pr*ck.

That's what I think. What do you think?

GOP; what good are they?

Conservatives and liberals are split almost equally on every belief they have. Then why is it that liberals always seem to get what they want when lines are drawn? Even when the split is not equal they seem to win. There must be a reason.

Enter the GOP and the Democrat party.

The GOP is led by a bunch of good ol' boy republicans that have no real principles apart from making money and being powerful. And, the Democrats are led by a bunch of radicals that really believe big government and socialized services are better for humanity despite historical proof.

At least the Democrat party act on the beliefs of liberals. What are the GOP good for if they are not representing conservatives?

That's what I think. What do you think?

America's heyday is over.

America was a truly remarkable nation. Rising from an unwinnable revolution against a repressive but powerful world leader, this new country invented a constitutional republic different from anything seen before. Its constitution was written specifically to allow the individual to live and prosper without undue restrictions from government. The founders proved their faith in the individual over the power of government by endowing each person with specific inalienable rights, and so, America was born to lead the world in almost all aspects of human endeavor for the next 200 years.

The growth and extent of its achievements mesmerized an envious world, causing immigrants to flood to its shores despite oftentimes extreme inhumane working and traveling conditions. They were all looking for a chance to make good, something that was impossible in their homelands.

A few of these people, through shear determination rose to the top, creating a society without boundaries for the individual; any individual. The results proved the founders right, while the  rest of the world, clinging to their old ways slipped slowly into decline.

When one observes the American landscape today it is difficult to identify that original individualistic drive. Americans have become complacent followers, sacrificing their constitutional heritage for easily achieved comforts, allowing slick government talk to rob them of the chance to become great. Americans have given up an astounding future for a few days in the sun. They have become indistinguishable from the people who envied them. The greatness has slipped away while they were sleeping.

It is no secret that an envious world is reveling in our demise. For centuries we have made world governments look bad. Highlighting their deficiencies with the most affluent populace ever. Ordinary Americans lived better than the wealthy of most countries because its government made less demands on them. It proved that individuals lift prosperity, not governments. It proved that an ordinary individual left to his own devices can achieve more than a nation full of followers. Now America is following the world in circles to nowhere.

Alas, the heyday is over.

That's what I think. What do you think?
