The last time the federal budget was passed before the beginning of the fiscal year was 1994. How hard can it be to make a budget when you borrow over one third of what you spend? There are frequent reports of politicians and bureaucrats spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on trips and entertainment. Pet projects costing millions are routinely added to unrelated legislation. If you pay taxes it is your money that is being wasted.

How do you feel about paying your income taxes? Do you feel like (1) you are participating in a fair taxation system, (2) you are only paying your fair share and (3) everyone else is paying their fair share too?

Conspiracy theories may be the haven for the paranoid, but it is an alarming fact that the majority of mainstreet Americans do not trust their government. They don’t trust them to tell the truth, they don’t trust them to protect their Constitutional rights, and they don’t trust them to do what is best for America. In short, Americans are alarmed that its own government have become “The Enemy Within”.

“The Enemy Within” is extreme, you say.

If you are an Independent voter, affiliated with neither the Republican nor Democratic party, you and your vote will be wooed in the months leading up to the November general election. As a voting group, Independents may have a huge impact on whether a Democrat or a Republican is elected to represent you in the US House of Representatives for the next two years. Still, that may result in NO CHANGE in the makeup of congress! Your participation in the general election may not be enough to bring about any change.

How many countries are having their infrastructures and power plants updated by our tax dollars? We can’t pass legislation to improve our own infrastructures and power plants, but we can send money to do that in Mexico?

Apparently our government officials are gathering up all loose nuclear material across the globe and storing it here, in the United States. Do you find it interesting we are storing it here, with our citizens? Are we sitting on a nuclear time bomb? Look what happened in Japan, and yet we have all this nuclear material, right here in Tennessee. Oakridge. Yes, we are sitting next to a nuclear storage site. How worthless to your country are you feeling?

The Supreme Court made a landmark decision in March that will rival its long awaited ruling on ObamaCare.

Mike and Chantell Sackett purchased some property situated near Priest Lake, Idaho on which they intended to build their dream home. In 2007, the Sacketts started preparing the land for construction when they got a surprise visit from the Environmental Protection Agency. The EPA told them that their property contained wetlands subject to regulation under the Clean Water Act (CWA) and the rocks and dirt being moved would cause unlawful discharge of pollutants into navigable waters without a permit. EPA then issued a compliance order directing the Sacketts to cease construction activities, restore the land and provide the agency with access to the site. The federal agency noted that failure to comply with the compliance order could subject the Sacketts to penalties up to $75,000 per day of violation.

I saw something on the local news recently that really got to me. It angered, hurt and saddened me all at the same time. It was a story out of Chattanooga about a 4-5 month old blue Pit Bull mix puppy. He had ran from his “owner’s” yard and into the rescuing hands of someone who happened to be in the right place at the right time.

The rescuer saw that this puppy was in serious need of some help. Instead of turning the puppy away or running it off, this kind person decided to do something about it. She took the puppy in and, with money from her own pocket, tried to help this poor creature.

I think it wonderful that you are taking the bull by the horns and are attacking women’s healthcare, social programs, gay rights, creating voter suppression and creating big government.

Your party should be commended for keeping your head deeply imbedded in the sand and not realizing that women are no longer intimidated by old, white men, who would keep them barefoot and pregnant. It is apparent that your party is afraid of women getting a taste of power for their own lives and the lives of their children. I am sorry to inform you, but women have gotten out of the dark ages. They are educated, have jobs, can read and write and, more importantly, VOTE. Yes, you heard right, they can VOTE.

For years, we have seen in other countries where their governments are able to arrest someone and hold them as long as they want without letting the arrested person talk to a lawyer, or indeed talk to anyone. These people just disappear. It is sad to say that this is now the law in the United States. Our government has declared Martial law here. They don’t call it that, but that’s what it is.

I believe the tax system in Bradley county is out of whack and what I am about to say may not please everyone, but it needs saying.

I believe that many entities in our county are not paying their fair share of taxes.
