Park View Elementary Construction Underway

Angie Lyon of Kaatz, Binkley, Jones and Morris Architects updated the Bradley County School Board on current construction projects happening in the County school system.  Lyon stated that Valley View renovations are near completion and the final touches will be done while school is out for Spring Break next week.

Park View Elementary has begun geo-thermal drilling for the wells, which will supply heating and cooling at the new school. Derek Martin of American Constructors added that the building construction is picking up and going well. The gym will be the next priority and over the past month, a week has been gained on the intended completion date. Martin stated in this meeting, that the date for possible completion could be around July.

Debbie Bailey, Principal of Park View Elementary informed the public of upcoming community meetings regarding the new school. On April 9, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. a meeting will be held at the YMCA on Urbane Road to discuss the school's opening. At the same location on May 6, 2010, starting at 7 p.m., Kindergarten registration will be held for Park View.

Park View Elementary is accepting open enrollment from all prospective students across the county. However, provided transportation is only limited to the surrounding district. Furthermore, while the enrollment is open in nature, if the school becomes full, then students in the surrounding districts are first priority.

Director of Schools Johnny McDaniel recognized the Bradley Central High School Wrestling Team for becoming State Wrestling Champions. The Bears have gone undefeated in the 2009-2010 wrestling season and have received 18 straight Region 3 Championships.

The next meeting of the Bradley County Board of Education will be held on Thursday, April 8, 2010 at 5:30 p.m. in the Administrative Building located on the Bradley Central High School campus.
