The Tennessee Mockingbird

Our Religion

by June Griffin

A certain Tennessee lady, having knowledge of the law, sued her husband on her deathbed because he had not given her the lawful inheritance. She died before the consummation of that suit, but it was allowed to proceed after her death.

One of the winning arguments presented to the Judge was the words in the will of the deceased which made reference to "my wife." This personal reference swayed the Judge to rule that indeed this term of endearment made it clear that the husband intended the best for her and thus the Lady had the last word by the little pronoun, "My."

In his 1833 Commentary on the Constitution of the United States, supreme Court Justice Story on Page 63 states that until new laws are formed, "old laws and customs of the country remain in full force, unless so far as they are contrary to "Our Religion..." He states plainly that we have a Religion, it is Our Religion, and in spite of the current fad of misinformed and mean historians who wish to make us a secular nation, we have our own Religion. We do not worship our bellies or proclaim ourselves to be gods, as did the debauched Greeks and other pagan misfits, rather we have liberty under our God and "our Religion." That blessed pronoun, "Our."

He goes further in that same paragraph to say that the "crown could never intend to sanction laws contrary to religion or sound morals. (The word "sanction" had its true meaning of "blessing" then instead of the flip-flopping  lawyers who want to turn the word on its head and make it mean "to curse.")

The American Legion Auxiliary in its Blue Book Manual states that as "members of the American Legion Auxiliary, we are to preach and teach the religion of Americanism." What indeed is this religion? Trinity v. USA, 1892, supreme Court, after ploughing through thousands of our documents declared unequivocally that this is a Christian nation. And that it is founded on The Inspired Book, The Holy Bible.

In the Christian History of the United States of America, it is written..."It was an order of Congress, directing the Committee of Commerce to import twenty thousand copies of the Bible, the great political text-book of the patriots." This was from a sermon preached to the Colonists by J. Wingate Thornton.

John Quincy Adams said that "the highest glory of the American Revolution is this: it connected, in one indissoluble bond, the principles of civil government with the principles of Christianity." And it was the Pulpit, The Puritan Pulpit, from whence we owe the moral force which won our independence, according to J. Wingate Thornton. I guess he ought to know.

Aren't we tired of being dragged through the humanists' mud while we are forced to pay for their higher learning citadels which "deny the Lord that brought them?" This LORD is known as "The Deity," "The Almighty," "Jehovah," THE LORD.

Yes, we have "Our Religion." It is the Same Religion as was preached from the Holy Bible from the beginning and this, Our Religion, gave us our Bill of Rights and joined us, under Him, to be a free people. I'm sorry if other countries envy us, the Americans, and it is certain that we have tolerated sin and tyranny, have been beguiled by worldly entertainments, their vices and politicians, but Our God lives and when He gets through chastening us for our backslidings and compromises, He will turn His Wrath on you who have been His and Our enemies. Even so, come quickly, Lord Jesus. Thou art the Author of Our Religion.
