Injustice Within Our System
Letter to the Editor:
Racism and police retaliation is very much alive! I have been trying to get the school to stop the teacher from discriminating against the 6 minority children in a class, and to get the SRO to do something about the excessive speeding in the school zone. The principal nor the SRO would do anything to help.
I went to the Director of schools and the chief of police. The principal nor the SRO liked this idea very much. The SRO went after me and had me arrested. My child and I walked to and from school. With no sidewalks, we walked along the side of the road. The SRO alleges I jumped in front of a car with my small child to stop it from speeding, among other things. I am an ER nurse and have enough common since not to do such a thing.
In his original report, he states the DA office told him to get a criminal summons. Guess he didn't like that. Two days later, he got a judge to sign an arrest warrant. They came to my house and took me away in cuffs, and took me to jail. The officer did not do this on the day it happened. He waited 10 days, the same day the Director of schools had them fix the discrimination. Coincidence?I have this officer on video on one of the days in question that will show his report is false. This is a small town where obviously change is not welcome. I should be worrying about what to get the kids for Christmas, not if I am going to have to go to jail. What is wrong with our system, where those committing the crime are not prosecuted, but the victims are! I have contacted the NAACP, ACLU, Senator, Congressman, and Governor. Channel 3 news did an interview also. Please help stop this injustice!
