The Tennessee Mockingbird

"....And, why...."

By June Griffin

Motives are the basis of all actions. Few of today's high-minded graduates recognize the principle of motives in that they hold lying as acceptable, if the "end justifies the means." This old doctrine of Jesuit Casuistry was the fomenting brew of the Protestant Reformation which demanded that all 'tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth," a Bible precept incorporated into early American law.

In his re-election bid in Kentucky, Governor Ernie Fletcher posted the Ten Commandments the day before the election. Assigning of a motive for this move stirred the imaginations of reporters who surmised that it was a last-ditch effort to gain favor of the majority of Kentuckians who pay the bills and who have been run over by leech-lawyers with the ACLU. These reporters thought that the Governor was like them, for they run with those who are bereft of pure motives .

June Griffin

In reality, U.S. District Judge Joseph Hood ruled that the Governor's display was different from the previous outlawed display and was acceptable. (And why this distinction?) The next day the Governor put up the Ten Commandments; which just happened to be the day before the election.

In 1980, the High Court ruled in the Kentucky case, Stone V. Graham, 1980 that "If the posted copies of the Ten Commandments are to have any effect at all, it will be to induce the school children to read, meditate upon, perhaps to venerate and obey the Commandments. This is not a permissible state objective under the Establishment Clause."!!!!!

The Court didn't want the children to read, meditate upon, venerate and God forbid(!) OBEY the Commandments. And why did the Court do this?

Harry S Truman, speaking in an address to Attorney Generals' Conference on Law Enforcement, Washington, DC February 15, 1950, stated: "The fundamental basis of this nation's law was given to Moses on the mount. The fundamental basis of our Bill of Rights comes from the teachings which we get from Exodus and St. Matthew, from Isaiah and St. Paul. I don't think we emphasize that enough these days.

If we don't have the proper fundamental moral background, we will finally wind up with a totalitarian government which does not believe in rights for anybody except the State." And why did Harry S Truman say this?

Reminder: In a six-year circuit of Tennessee counties, this Mockingbird addressed ninety-one of the 95 Tennessee County Commissions who agreed that we have a Right to display the Commandments and asked for the blessing to be on Tennessee for our reverence to His Law. Only ONE County , Williamson, the richest - voted AGAINST this Resolve. Nine tabled it out of fear of a lawsuit. And, why? The people are hungry for righteousness but have no Shepherd.

Dear Reader: What Rights do you have left since the war on the "fundamental basis of this nation's law?" Have you tried to start an independent business? Have you tried to school your own children? Have you tried to drive the roads without Germanic, Hitlerian paperwork - "Your papers, please....insurance, social security number, driver's license, passport," after the officer has responded to the anonymous busybody whose eagle-eyes peered through your window, reports you to the 911 insurance police for not being buckled up or having your children in the expensive straight jackets FORCED UPON YOU BY MANDATE FROM THE 'CLICK-IT-OR-TICKET' GRANT SYSTEM which recycles the wealth? Keep in mind that admonition of Benjamin Franklin: "He who relinquishes essential liberty for a little temporary safety deserves neither liberty or safety." And why are these Rights abandoned, abrogated or belittled?

This "Why" will be asked of you in the Great Day of the Lord's Wrath which is imminent. As for this writer, I will stand on the blood of Christ and our American veterans, the Ten Commandments, the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights as long as I live. Why? And then, How? By the Grace and Help of Almighty Jehovah, who is worshipped in our national hymn: "God of our Fathers," "Whose Almighty Hand, Leads forth in Battle all the starry band..." Glory, hallelujah! But who can stand in the day of His Wrath?
