The Tennessee Mockingbird

Poor, Fat and Happy

by June Griffin

A day or two ago, the Anti Christian Labor Union, known as the ACLU, held one of their gatherings in Nashville to discuss the supreme Court's handling of the Ten Commandments cases. That this is even an issue to be discussed is paramount to holding court to discuss whether you should have two ears. This Soviet of left-wing lawyers have felt it their bounden duty to liberate the poor, fat and happy, liberate them from normality and all that is good and established to be so..

Now I had never been to one of these meetings before but you would have to be impressed with the appetizers. Having no ladies to cook for them, one of the men brought in a loaf of light bread and tossed it on the table and then someone turned up with huge high-liter-bottles of cheap soft drinks and packaged cookies, which I presume to be marked with the government stamp of "kosher." My mind went to the wonderful layout of bountiful and beautiful dishes which are set before our veterans at the simplest American Legion meeting. Sure makes a difference when women are women instead of left-wing lawyers.

It then proved out that they spend their money on expensive literature, blasting Americanism, God and Country. After picking up some of this drivel, we watched as the Star came on the scene. The kinky-headed ACLU female director, who has been so hurt when one of her disciples was offended by seeing the Ten Commandments posted, was a consolation to the old ex-hippies and left-wing faithful who were there.

But today, let us look at an important list which is promoted by the ACLU and which list was passed out at this meeting.. Called "The Coalition Against Religious Discrimination," these groups oppose "Charitable Choice." Like everything else they do, the title is a reversal of its true self. But then you have to think backwards to understand the  rhetoric.

Here they are, these that oppose "charitable choice."

Academy of Pediatrics, Association of University Women, Baptist Churches, USA (ABC), Civil Liberties Union, Counseling Association, Federation of Government Employees, AFL-CIO, Friends Service Committee, Jewish Committee, Jewish Congress,  (all prefixed with the word "American"), Americans United for Separation of Church and State, Anti-Defamation League, Baptist Joint Committee on Public Affairs, Catholics for a Free Choice, Center for Law and Social Policy, Central Conference of American Rabbis, Christians for Justice action, Disciples Justice Action Network, Equal Partners in Faith, Friends Committee on National Legislation, Hadassah, the Women's Zionist Organization of America, Jewish Council for Public Affairs, Jewish Women International, Legal Momentum, Na"mat USA, NARAL Pro-Choice America.

The following are all prefixed with the word "National" -  Association for the Advancement of Colored People, Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors, Association of School Psychologists, Association of Social Workers, Community Action Foundation, Council of Jewish Women, Education Association, Family Planning and Reproductive Health Association, Gay and Lesbian Task force, League of Cities, Partnership for Women and Families, PTA,  Women's Law Center....OMB Watch, People for the American Way, Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Protestant Justice action, Rabbinical Assembly, Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism, Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice, Service Employees International Union, AFL-CIO, Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States (SIECUS), Texas Faith Network, Texas Freedom Network, The Employment Project, The Alan Guttmacher Institute, The Interfaith Alliance, The Rainbow-Push Coalition, Unitarian Universalist Association, United Church of Christ, Justice & Witness Ministries, Women of Reform Judaism, Women's American ORT....Is that all?

Is there anyone who ISN'T in this?

Of all the nerve!!! To FORCE one to give "charity!!!" To be AGAINST  "Charitable Choice!!!" Mandated charity!  Huh! No such thing. Charity belongs to those that ASK directly.

Away with it! Get rid of the mediators. Where is the God of Davy Crockett?!
